EMRO's Goals and Vision
EMRO's goals are to help save the endangered native Egyptian Mau and rehome as many of the cats as can feasibly be done, both locally and internationally. We also provide outreach for these animals through means of education and brochures in an attempt to raise awareness for these underappreciated, abused and neglected ancient animals.
The Mau is a very intelligent, noble and ancient cat, and it is
EMRO's hope to help raise awareness and preserve the species for
future generations.
We have also discovered a new species of Maus, the long-haired
Mau or Shirazi Mau, which is also indigenous in Egypt. The Mau is
native throughout Africa and Asia, and depending upon the location,
a sub-breed of Mau exists. EMRO works also to help save and promote
the Saudi Oriental Mau, located in Saudi Arabia (KSA).
EMRO is not funded by any government agency or charitable group
and depends solely upon donations, sponsorships and money that comes
in from adoptions. It is currently largely self- funded through
generous loans from the Founders.
