Middle Eastern Arabian Maus! (updated July 29, 2011)

EMRO is working in conjunction with Saudi Arabian (KSA) organization PAWS, a grassroots group in the East Gulf dedicated to helping the abandoned and orphaned tame cats, dogs, birds and other animals needing new homes, especially when those ex-pats leave and cannot take their pet with them.In some cases we come across Maus, Mau mixes and Orientals that need rehoming, and we will post them on this page.

The Founders of EMRO currently travel between Cairo and KSA and can act either as pet escorts between the two locations or keep interested adopters aware of potential pet options from this often hard-to-reach corner of the globe. Pet escorts can be occasionally obtained to Europe and America, as there is a thriving foreign expat community here. Pet preparation for travel is similar to that from Cairo. Most are neutered/spayed already by PAWS, but the adopter would have to pay for vaccines and travel costs. Usually need a minimum of 30 days to travel while pet escort sought.

Maus from Saudi Arabia are often interbred with local Orientals, creating a subgroup of native Maus now known as Arabian Maus. This group is now recognized as a breed of their own! For more information see: http://www.mecats.net/arabiabMau.asp.

For more information about PAWS or more cats and other KSA animals to adopt, please check: www.saudipaws.com.

DAPHNE, DEXTER, AND DROID (Riyadh, KSA)

Daphne, Dexter and Droid

Daphne, Dexter and Droid2

Update: Daphne and Dexter have been Adopted! Droid (one eye patch) is still waiting his turn.

Status: Available - Sponsor Me!
Color: Arabian Oriental (female is Calico)
Gender: 1 Female, 2 Males
Age: 6 to 8 weeks of age
Comments:
Other Notes:

These three adorable siblings were found huddling on a street corner, near a trash can where they were looking for food. The next day, after placing additional food, their Rescuer managed to gather all three of them and took them to the safety of her yard. Apparently, because they appeared somewhat tame, it is suspected that they had been removed from someone's house in the surrounding neighborhood. They were trying to fend for themselves but were not street smart. They enjoy the regular feedings in their new surroundings, as well as frolicking in the enclosed yard where they feel safe.

Daphne, the female semi long-haired Calico, is very protective as a future mommy cat in training. She approaches the larger cats in the yard with confidence, even when she gets swatted by them. She is described as brave, cheeky and faithful. All three, Daphne, Dexter, and Droid are litter trained and ready for adoption.

Sweet, Gentle George is Looking for a Home of his Own!

This is George, he is a male, semi-white, semi long- haired kitten of about 4 months of age. He was observed by Ms. Gloria, his rescuer, around the Tamimi store (Safeway) in the Sahara Mall in Riyadh. She left him some food, but she noted he was in the area of a very bad intersection, with a little green oasis near the mem's public toilet, which was sandwiched between two very busy roads and parking lot for a busy food store. How this
little kitten survived this long out in this danger zone is unknown.

Ms. Gloria returned the second day, determined to find him, but then spotted him laying on his side behind the wash basin stand in the men's bedroom. The little baby at first look like some old paper towels littering the floor. Ms. Gloria gathered him up, observing that he appeared almost lifeless from dehydration, quite filthy, and took him home. The next day the kitten managed to walk towards some wet food which was placed in front of him. He was observed to still walk in a very unstable manner, but he was purring all the time, grateful for a kind hand, food, water and shelter.

For three days this little kitten basically ate and slept through the days while his rescuer tried to rub off some tar or other sticky substance off his fur. By the third day, he was more lively and took an interest in his surroundings. His rescuer belives this kitten is deaf and might have sustained a bite from another cat, or insect, on his neck which caused the sticky substance on his neck. He is walking a little unbalanced, not sure if the reason is deafness or vision problems. However, he is eating heartily, going to the bathroom like other kittens, and is just a very sweet kitty. Do you have a small place in your home and Heart for George to call his own?

Mork and Mindy Looking for a Home of their Own!
Mork and Mindy
Mork PAWS Mindy PAWS

Both Mork and Mindy turned up on their rescuer's doorstep a week ago. Initially, she thought they were stray kittens, no collars on them, but after taking them in for something to eat, they gradually stopped shaking, began to relax, and she realized they they were too tame and had obviously been handled before. Both Mork and Mindy are litter trained, are very lovable and affectionate, not to mention lively, inquisitive and very entertaining! It is preferred that both Mork & Mindy are adopted together to keep each other company, but they have also bonded.

Mindy is described as a bronze Arabian Mau-mix, 3 months of age, 2 to 3 kilos, litter trained and very friendly. Mork is described as a Mau-mix, mostly white, 3 months of age, friendly, inquisitive, and litter trained.

If you are interested in adopting this charming and friendly duo, please call Briege at 874-7442 (W); 875-1823 (H); or 050-420-1310. Email contact is at breige.mcgill@aramco.com.

Buddy looking for Forever Home in KSA

Buddy is a sweet, young cat of about 6 months, he is neutered and has a friendly temperament. He was one of two kittens raised by Riadha, his mom, but his brother, a gray fluffy fellow, got separated and lost one morning - perhaps after sleeping inside a car's engine and dropping off places unknown. Buddy (he is a buddy to everyone) almost got lost a couple times when about two months old, due to high winds and storms, he
panicked and ran away. But he was eventually found 2 blocks up and under a car and retrieved.  Buddy is an indoor/outdoor cat and loves attention and play. White with
black marks, almost the same as his mom!
