Thank you for looking at adoptable Off-site Maus and Non-Mau cats who are in need of a good home. We hope you might find your new companion here. If you access this web site more often, please remember to refresh your screen periodically (press the 'F5' button) to view the updated cat biographies. In many cases, you can email the owner/foster person directly about information on the cat of interest below. If you are locally based in Egypt, you can make arrangements to view the cat(s) directly. If outside of EMRO and you are interested in this cat, we can arrange to have it brought into EMRO for process to travel.

(NOTE: Cats and kittens on this site will be advertised for one through three (1-3) months, only. They will then be removed if we do not receive confirmation of the cat's whereabouts. If your cats and/or kittens are rehomed by yourself or others, please contact the WebMauster, Aida, so that she can remove their bios from the web site.)

If you are particularly interested in any new cat, please make an inquiry and put in an application for that cat. You will find the application, as well as other information about the adoption process, on the Adoption Information page. There is no obligation to adopt any cat until your adoption application has been approved and confirmed, and only after you have decide it is the right feline for you.

Also, please have a look at the Arabian Maus under KSA Cats as well as our Native Egyptian Maus available for adoption or sponsorship that can be found under Adoptable Maus.

EMRO's mandate is to rescue and rehome Native Egyptian Maus, Arabian Maus and Shirazi Maus, and all intakes are at the sole discretion of the Founder: you may contact the Founder at info@emaurescue.org. Please note that EMRO, although a non-profit organization, is NOT government funded and relies solely on the donations and good will of those using its services. We are a small shelter and have very limited spaces for intakes. Pet quality Maus remain available through EMRO to any one (whether local or international) interested in helping save a Mau, who satisfies our basic screening application, and who are able to pay for its expenses in order to get them to their new home (we operate on a cost-recovery basis).  However, EMRO will often recommend that a potential adopter also consider the closest Native Egyptian Mau breeder located near their area (please check NESMA).

Cute Luckie is URGENTLY Seeking Forever Home!

This is Luckie, she is a four-month-old, female, red Mau-mix kitten. She was found on the mid-section of the ring road two months ago, alone and afraid, and unable to move. She would have died, or run over by a car, if a kind Egyptian lady hadn't spotted her and rescued her. However, unable to keep the kitten herself, the kind Egyptian lady gave the kitten to an American expat who provided care and shelter for the last two months. Unfortunately, the expat's job contract was suddenly terminated, due to the political situation in Egypt, and he had to return to the States a few days ago. Luckie's original Rescuer again took him in, but was told by her mother that she refused to have Lucky in her home, and that the kitten must be removed ASAP.

Luckie is very loving, calm, and she is litter trained. She loves people very much and only wishes to have a home and Guardian of her own.

Poor Luckie is being fostered by a third person, but only for a few days because of lack of room. Her foster parent Urgently needs someone to adopt Luckie or else she will be placed out on the street, where he chances of being poisoned or run over are very high. Please help.

Deirdre is Seeking a Loving Forever Home!

This cute gray and while little girl is Deirdre. She is approximately 4 to 5 months of age. She is described as very friendly and is very comfortable when petted, and likes to play. She currently is little shy about being hand fed, but is all right if left alone to eat by herself. She is described as being very sociable and litter trained.

Gem, the Special Needs Kitten, is Seeking a Loving and Safe, Temporary Foster Home!

Gem has been Adopted, but temporarily needs a local Foster Home in Cairo because her Forever Home is being prepared.

This sweet kitten was found out on the street, with her arm in a very bad condition. She was taken to the Vet by her Rescuer where she was told that gangrene had already set in. It was advised that Gem's arm had to be amputated in order to save her life.

Gem is a two-month-old female Mau-mix, she is extremely kind and friendly (she was probably someone's pet), and is litter trained. Her "special needs" (3 limbs) does not detract from her loving personality and sweet nature, nor does it slow her down.

Gem's Rescuer is urgently looking for someone to foster her, as Gem is being treated for ringworm which requires separation from other animals. Unfortunately, Gem's rescuer already has 2 cats and 2 dogs, with no space for Gem, except on the balcony during this very cold and inclement weather. After the ringworm has been eradicated, Gem will be available for permanent adoption.

Titi (Nefertiti) is Seeking a Forever Home!

(Nefertiti) Titi (Nefertiti) is a 4-month-old, Native Egyptian Bronze Mau kitten. She was rescued from the cruel streets of Cairo by Ms. Habeeba who found her in a car, meowing and screaming, with no mother cat visible in the area. Her Rescuer took her home and discovered that Titi had respiratory infection, an eye infection, and also ringworm. Titi has been completely nursed back to health, and is ready to be adopted either in the USA or Europe.

The name "Nefertiti" means "the beautiful one has arrived", and this name fits this beautiful and poised little kitten. Are you looking for a "beautiful one" to grace your home and be your bonded Mau?

Panda and Lulu are looking for a Forever Home!

These two sweet babies were found by their Rescuer, Ms. Mary, crying alone in a street in Cairo, Egypt. The Tuxedo kitty is a male named is Panda, and the all black kitty is a female named Lulu. She describes these little angels as being 4-months old, Panda is a Mau-mix (black and white Tuxedo) and Lulu is an all black Mau. Ms. Mary took them to a Vet so he could provide medication for an eye infection they both had. They are now recovering and, as you can see by the photos, they are well on their way to complete recovery and full health. Ms. Mary describes both as being very playful, and purr very lovingly when they are petted or when snuggling against their Rescuer's legs. They do not have names, as yet. Lulu has vision in only one eye and Panda has a slight lesion on his right eye, his left eye is normal.

Unfortunately, their Ms. Mary is unable to take care of them because she has a very heavy work load, plus her two-year-old cat which she already has, is feeling jealous and neglected. Being young, these babies require some additional care which Ms. Mary is currently unable to provide. She is hoping both these cuties are able to find a loving home, hopefully together, which they can enjoy and provide some lucky Adopter with long, loving companionship.

Beautiful Leilani is Seeking a Forever Home!

This is Leilani, she is described as a beautiful Mau mix, with the Mau belly flap, very talkative and curious. Leilani was rescued by Ms. Monica from the Manhattan Animal Care and Control Center Shelter in May of 2010. Unfortunately, although Ms. Monica was happy to take Leilani in, she has now taken in three other cats (apart from Leilani). Leilani has shown that she is very possessive and jealous of the other cats, and tends to hiss and swat at them. Leilani especially chases and tortures Ms. Monica's male Siamese-mix. Leilanni is approximtely 1 1/2 years of age and has been spayed.

Do you have a small space in your home for a beautiful kitty who wishes only to be the only cat in a household?

Little Red Mau looking for a Warm Forever Home!

This little unnamed baby has been dubbed (temporarily) Little RedAbout 6 weeks ago, Red's Caretaker observed him mewing loudly and wondering alone. She determined the little kitty was a male red Egyptan Mau about 3 to 4 weeks of age. The Caretaker notice little Red had lost his mother, so she began bringing him food. The way Little Red sniffed and recognized the food showed that it was his first time eating solid food. From then on, his Caretaker brought him food and fed him once in the morning and once around 1:00 PM. The Caretaker sometimes found it hard to feed Little Red because there would be about 20 other cats trying to eat his food. Little Red was observed to sleep under cars, as most cats do but, with the weather beginning to turn cold, the Caretaker is afraid that Little Red could get sick and die . Unfortunately, EMRO is unable to in-take Little Red because it is completely full.

Do you have a small corner in your home and heart for a red baby Mau who is just looking for some warmth?

Beautifully Poised Sheba is looking for a Forever Home!

Sheba is approximately two years of age, female, with grey and white fur. Her rescuer, Ms. Lily, found her in El Maadi, Cairo, Egypt where they observed her being mistreated by some customers. The store staff, however, informed Ms. Lily that Sheba loved to sit with customers and was very friendly with humans. This statement was proven true when Sheba approached Ms. Lily and greeted her.

Sheba was taken to the Vet where they were told this little kitty had suffered a hip fracture, and old wound which had healed, but which left her with a slight limp, but with no pain.  She is able to walk and run and does not struggle to remain mobile.  It was also discovered that she had ovarian cysts, which had enlarged her stomach.  However, she has made a complete and full recovery, and is now a healthy, energetic, playful, and extremely friendly kitty.  She is described as being very loving and adores the company of people, and purrs continually whenever she is hugged or petted.

However, due to previous cat fights she has had with other older cats, she sustained injuries and prefers to stay away from other cats.  She is traumatized.  It is important that Sheba be the only cat in the household, due to her run-ins with other cats.  This is why she must be re-homed because Ms. Lily has three other kitties which Sheba cannot get along with.  Even with this one problem, Sheba is still described as a lovely cat who loves human company, and has no problems interacting with them.

Ms. Jocelyn's Rescues are looking for Forever Home!

Below are three cats who Ms. Jocelyn has rescued and has been looking after since February 9th. Unfortunately, they have no names at the moment, and their ages are unknown at this time. They have not been neutered/spayed, as yet, but are litter trained.

- Blue Mau, male: Gentle, friendly, but a bit shy with strangers. He has beautiful green eyes which contrast against his "blue" fur. He is slightly long-haired, as you can see.

- Bronze Mau, male: This handsome "pirate" cat has been fed and taken care of by Ms. Jocelyn for 3-4 months. His stomach is described as spotted and also has lines on his fur. He is friendly, but has not been picked up yet.

- Nile Valley Egyptian, long-haired, black and white, female: This stricking, golden-eyed beauty has been observed on the street for almost a year; Ms. Jocelyn has been feeding and taking care of her for 2 months. This kitty is described as gentle, placid, and perhaps a little depressed. She follows Ms. Jocelyn and rubs herself against her. It is suspected that she used to live with humans because she allows being handled by people, allows herself to be picked up, and has lush, shiney fur.

As you can see in the picture, he enjoys eating chicken and must be fed urinary dry cat food. If you are looking for a beautiful, intelligent, polite and laid-back, majestic-looking kitty, then Hogan is the perfect feline, Mau-mix companion you are looking for. The lady who has taken care of him all this time is now 62 years old, suffers from severe hypertension and heart problems.  She is unable to take care of him anymore.

If you are looking for a mellow and quiet kitty, one who is housebroken and who is very comfortable and used to living with humans, then Bembo is the one you've been looking for.
