ADOPTIONS - Dogs/Canines
Dogs/Canines available for adoption at EMRO, a Mau shelter? Yes, under special circumstances or through a special request, EMRO does advertise adoption for local dogs.
This is Booshkas, an eight-month-old puppy who was struck by a car in Mokattam when he was only 3-months-old, shattering one of his hind legs. He was found crying and in pain by an EMRO employee who took him to the EMRO shelter where he was nurtured, stabilized and his leg partially amputated after it was deemed the most humane thing to do under the circumstances.
As you can see, Booskas is loving puppy, loves people and (you guessed it) gets along with cats. Booskas gets along very well with his 3 remaining legs and is quite mobile even with his "disability". All he needs is a Forever Home and a loving family that can he can call his own. He has been neutered, vaccinated and is Ready to Go to his new family!
Even the neighbours around the EMRO shelter have been checking up on Booskas because he sometimes barks at night (out of loneliness, he misses people), plus he has become somewhat of a mascot for EMRO. Unfortunately, EMRO is not equipped to keep dogs long term and Booskas has been at EMRO for 3 months now. He was awaiting in-take to another local Cairo shelter which adopts out both dogs and cats but, unfortunately, they are also overflowing with animals at this time. EMRO is providing this notice because with competition from other "normal" dogs, Booskas' chances of getting rehomed is very small, especially with his "disability". But Bookhas has a Big, Loving Heart, is tremendously loyal, and would worship and protect the Guardian who adopts him.

Update, Saturday, June 12, 2010!
Little Booskas has been transported to another shelter in the area where he will have others of his kind to socialize with. He will be introduced slowly to acclimate him to his new surroundings. He is available and ready for adoption; as you can see, he is very people friendly, enjoys their company, and only wishes to have a home of his own. Unlike human's perception of "disabilities", some animals do not believe themselves to be disabled and are able to move, play and do everything else a "normal" animal will do in his every day life.
If anyone is interested in adopting this very friendly and very lucky puppy, please contact Mona at mona@esmaegypt.org or at their web site http://esmaegypt.org.
